It is particularly important to us to support our employees, to strengthen them professionally, methodically and personally and to show them attractive paths for their development. That is why Brenntag tailors its development programs to the different target groups and local needs.
The Brenntag Campus is based on 4 different lines, which show our employees targeted offers and measures. This enables our employees to find a suitable entry-level position at Brenntag right from the start, to get to know the company in the best possible way and to develop professionally and personally.

Brenntag Trainee Program DACH

Under the guidance of experienced employees, you will gain an overview of the structure and processes of the Brenntag Group. You will procure industrial chemicals on international markets, learn about modern warehousing and gain experience in selling our products. In the process, you will pass through the areas of sales, logistics, procurement, controlling and product management throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The program starts annually in October and runs for 15 months.
The structured program prepares you specifically for management and/or specialist tasks. You will quickly take on responsibility in interesting projects at different locations. Through your assignments in the branches and divisions, you will become familiar with entrepreneurial contexts and learn to recognize, plan and implement holistic strategies.
The focus is on dovetailing theoretical knowledge and practical experience with the aim of promoting the professional and personal development of each individual trainee. The program is embedded in a mentoring and patronage system so that the trainees are supported throughout the entire period and their entry into Brenntag is thus facilitated.
We expect a high degree of initiative and commitment. Assertiveness and the ability to find your way around in a team and settle in should distinguish you.
Depending on your personal preferences and qualifications, we will already discuss your further steps at Brenntag at the end of the trainee period and jointly determine possible target positions.

Brenntag Trainee Program Logistics

A future-oriented 15-month trainee program in which you will quickly assume responsibility in interesting logistics projects at various locations in Germany.
You will get an overview of the structure and processes of our company and go through various logistics locations as well as the purchasing and sales areas. You will get to know our entire supply chain process chain, gain insight into the transport processes and gain experience in our modern warehousing.
In addition, you will establish contact with our top management through constant project work and develop a comprehensive network.
You have successfully completed your studies in logistics, business administration with a focus on supply chain management or industrial engineering with a focus on traffic management and have a high degree of mobility and flexibility as well as a pronounced willingness to travel. Personally, you convince through your ability to work in a team, your high level of commitment, your ability to grasp things well and your structured way of working.

Onboarding Line

START familiarization program

We prepare the entry of new employees at Brenntag with targeted measures to integrate them optimally into our company.
The START familiarization program sets the course for a successful start even before the employee begins work. To this end, the HR department, supervisors and mentors work closely together and support our new employees in all matters. This includes information brochures, checklists, regular feedback meetings, intensive training measures and, last but not least, the Onboarding Day for new employees.

Onboarding Day

The information day for new employees is an important part of the onboarding program. For a whole day, the new employees receive extensive information about all areas of the company - and at first hand.
The management presents the world market leader in chemical distribution and its company history.
Afterwards, various business units and the human resources team introduce themselves. The highlight is a tour of the Duisburg site, Brenntag's largest distribution center. There is also an opportunity to exchange experiences with other new employees.

Annual employee appraisal

At Brenntag, a standardized global employee appraisal is conducted annually.
Employee appraisals are an essential element of employee management and internal communication. The discussions are intended to provide an impetus for supervisors and employees to regularly engage in an intensive exchange of views on previous cooperation and mutual expectations.
The goals and tasks of the department are better understood; this results in the possibility of exerting a formative influence.
Through feedback, the employee is given the opportunity to get to know himself better, to improve the expectations of the superior and his own qualifications. Possibilities for professional development can be discussed and concrete measures with regard to employee-oriented qualification can be agreed upon.

Employee Development Program (MOVE)

Our primary objective at Brenntag is to create a working environment in which our employees feel safe, enjoy their work and where they are offered stability and at the same time sufficient freedom for their personal development.
To support our employees in their personal development, the MOVE employee development program, which has been successful for over ten years, was redesigned in 2019 and adapted to changing environmental aspects and forms of learning.
The result of this new concept is a new learning format "MOVE - a new learning journey". The main topics of this learning journey are communication skills and self-reflection as well as self-responsibility and flexibility. The measure extends over 3 attendance modules in a total of 10 months, in which the participants work on contents that were previously defined in a joint orientation workshop. The topic of digitalization also finds its place in the form of a virtual learning platform that is available especially for this program.

Leadership Development Program (FEP)

To prepare future managers for their tasks with leadership responsibility, a comprehensive development program was designed specifically for Brenntag's needs.
In addition to the development of an individual leadership role, the focus is particularly on the reflection of different leadership concepts. In addition to the expansion of professional competencies and social skills (soft skills), the program offers the opportunity to build a network.
Our goal here is to fill vacant management positions with executives from our "own ranks".

Content is offered in digital formats such as microlearnings, videos and TED Talks, selectable by topic, language and duration. You choose from a variety of courses and development opportunities, including leadership topics and intercultural learning, accessible anytime, anywhere.
